Why we built it, what it's for, and who it's for.

What we're building

Cost Per Nut is a dating ROI tracker. It exists because the largest discretionary spending category in most single guys' lives — dating — has never had its own tool. Budgeting apps see the totals. Notes apps see the receipts. Nothing connects spend, time, and outcomes in the way the math actually requires.

The product is opinionated about a few things and flexible about everything else. It's opinionated that CPN is the right metric, that outcomes should be binary, and that the per-girl pivot is the headline view. It's flexible about your outcome definition, your spend categories, and how you want to use the leaderboards.

Who it's for

Single guys in their 20s and 30s who already have a real dating life and want to understand the economics of it. The app doesn't help with getting more dates — it helps with making the dates you're already having more efficient.

It's also useful for guys in early-stage relationships who want to keep visibility on what they're spending. And it has a small but loyal user base of guys in long-term relationships who use the metric as a continuity tool from their single days.

Who it's not for

Guys looking for dating coaching, pickup advice, or strategies. The app is a measurement layer, not a coaching layer. Plenty of other places exist for that.

Guys looking for general budgeting. Mint, YNAB, and Copilot are better at total household finance. We don't try to compete with them.

Anyone uncomfortable with the framing. The product is named what it's named for a reason. If the unit feels wrong to you, this isn't the app for you, and that's totally fine.

Our philosophy

Data is private. We don't sell it, share it, or build a social product on top of it. The app is a quiet tool you use for your own benefit.

Friction kills adoption. Logging takes thirty seconds. Anything slower than thirty seconds doesn't survive month three of real use, and we know it.

Numbers are real. We don't soften the data, hide bad results, or wrap insights in motivational copy. The metric is what it is, and we trust you to handle it.

Memes can be products. CPN became a thing because the underlying idea is genuinely useful. The product is what happens when a good idea graduates from internet joke to actual tool.
